The Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board
The Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board (OCB)is responsible for certifying Water and Wastewater Operators within the province of Saskatchewan.
The mandatory certification program and the OCB were created July 15, 2000 in accordance with the legislation governing water and wastewater operations. The OCB works at arm’s length with the Water Security Agency (WSA) and makes its decisions based on the regulations and standards put in place by the WSA.
The Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulations have been in effect since June 1, 2015. As of December 4, 2016 “The Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Works Operator Certification Standards, 2012” has been updated and replaced with The Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Works Operator Certification Standards, 2016. The Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Program Guide has also been updated to reflect these changes.

The training institute determines the CEUs and the Operator Certification Board approves the acceptable amount that can be used toward renewal. A Request for CEU Rating is completed by the training institute or the Operator and submitted to the OCB for evaluation.

You cannot use the same course or workshop for two consecutive renewals. If you choose to repeat a course, in order to use it again towards renewing, it must skip one renewal period. A particular course can only be used towards renewal once in a four year period.
It can be reinstated by earning 1.0 CEU for each term your certification has lapsed. If your certification has lapsed for two renewal periods you need to earn 2.0 CEUs, if it has lapsed for three renewal periods you need to earn 3.0 CEUs, etc.
